Update: The Orioles have held talks with a representative for Izturis about acquiring the former Gold Glove winner, the Baltimore Sun reports.

Recommendation: While shortstop is a priority for the O’s, it does not appear they’re ready to make the cash commitment for a higher profile free agent such as Rafael Furcal, Orlando Cabrera or Edgar Renteria. While Izturis doesn’t provide much of bat, he hit .263 with one homer in 135 games last season, he has a solid glove and comes with a much cheaper price tag.
