North Carolina’s Davis says Yates is likely to start against Duke
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. | T.J. Yates is expected to start at quarterback for North Carolina this week at Duke.
Coach Butch Davis said after Wednesday’s practice that Yates has worked out enough mechanical issues to keep his starting job.
Last week, he made his first start since breaking his ankle in September, but threw for just 116 yards with an interception in a 41-10 loss to North Carolina State.
Cameron Sexton won 4 of 6 starts in Yates’ absence, but his shaky play two weeks ago at Maryland prompted Davis to reopen the competition last week.

Youngest to skate in an NHL game dies
BARRIE, Ontario | Armand “Bep” Guidolin, who at 16 became the youngest player to skate in an NHL game and later coached Hall of Famer Bobby Orr, has died of a stroke at 82, his family said.
Guidolin was 16 years, 11 months when he made his NHL debut with the Boston Bruins on Nov. 12, 1942. The Bruins needed help because of players serving in World War II. He went on to play nine seasons in the NHL, recording 107 goals and 171 assists in 519 games with Boston, Detroit and Chicago.
After his playing career ended in 1961, Guidolin turned to coaching and was behind the Oshawa Generals’ bench when Orr starred for the junior club. Guidolin then had NHL coaching stops in Boston, where he coached Orr again, and Colorado. Guidolin was also coach and general manager of the Edmonton Oilers in 1970s when they were still in the World Hockey Association.
